Time to free up your calendar because it’s going to be a busy July for Halifax!
Expect back-to-back events featuring shows from the Halifax Jazz Festival and the Halifax Busker Festival throughout the month.
Things kick off on July 15 with a night of Afrobeats from Femi Kuti and The Positive Force at the Light House Arts Centre.
A few nights later, on July 17, indie favorite Iron and Wine team up with singer and activist Sarah Harmer at the TD Main Stage for more electrifying performances.
The next day at the same venue, The Decemberists and Goldie Boutilier bring some alternative rock to the city.
For something more relaxed, the Christine Jensen Quartet is also performing at the Carletone that same night.
As if those weren’t enough, there’s one more performance for the night by Bill Frisell Trio with Thomas Morgan and Rudy Royston at the Light House Arts Centre.
Then, on July 19, Ednea Owens and The Cookout take over the Light House Arts Centre for some more jazz tunes to close the Halifax Jazz Festival.
Finally, the Halifax Busker Festival ends the month by hosting pay-what-you-can performances around the Halifax and Dartmouth waterfronts from July 30 to August 4.
I know I’m already freeing up all my weekends to catch as many shows as I can!
