10 Best Pet-Friendly Hotels in Halifax for Staycations with Furry Travel Buddies

pet-friendly-hotels

Do you like traveling and hate leaving your pet alone? As a dog owner and animal lover, my pup always tags along with me when I travel, but it’s not always easy because not all cities are pet-friendly (*coughs* Vancouver).

Luckily for you, Halifax is.

Whether you’re stopping overnight or staying for a couple of days, the city has a myriad of hotels that can accommodate you and your pets. They’ll even provide yummy treats, fun toys, and designated spaces where they can do their business in peace.

Here, we’ll list the best pet-friendly hotels in Halifax that will give your furry travel companions the VIP treatment they deserve.

Just for a one-time fee of $25, your furry companions, cats or dogs, can enjoy the same personalized treatment while you’re at the Prince George Hotel. Service animals, however, are exempt from the fees.

Upon checking in, they’ll get a welcome basket containing a cozy fleece blanket, a potty hydrant mat, biodegradable waste bags, food and water bowls, and of course, lots of yummy treats to keep them happy.

As part of the hotel policy, you can’t leave your pet unattended during your stay. They are also expected to be on their best behavior, which means excessive barking and messes are discouraged.

You’re required to keep your pets in their crate while the staff is cleaning your room. Or, you can have the daily housekeeping scheduled during your walks with your furry friends.

Another hotel in Halifax that will pamper your four-legged friends is Cambridge Suites. If you’re staying for 7 days or less, you’ll be charged a $25 cleaning fee for pets of any size.

You’ll have to pay $100 if you’ll be there for more than 7 days, which is quite steep—but on the bright side, it’s a one-time fee that covers the duration of your stay. When you check-in, your furry companions will be greeted with treats and toys.

There are no designated areas for pet relief within the hotel property. However, there is a dirt area right across the hotel and several hydrants nearby where your pets can comfortably relieve themselves.

You must also keep your pets on a leash at all times while you’re in the public areas of the hotel.

Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel

The Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel allows up to two pets but for an additional fee of $60 per stay. Whether you have cats or dogs, no matter their size, your furry friends are welcome to stay at this hotel.

As long as you leave your contact information, you can leave your pets unattended in the room so you can explore the city to your heart’s content. For their potty breaks, you can take them to the grassy area near the hotel, which has its own waste station.

Another thing we like is its proximity to Halifax’s scenic waterfront and boardwalk. You’ll have quick access to pet-friendly patios, shops, and restaurants, which even provide water bowls and treats for your furry friends.

The Westin Nova Scotian

The Westin Nova Scotian is another Marriott hotel with a pet-friendly policy, but they only charge a one-time non-refundable fee of $35. That’s nearly 50% less than the Marriott Harbourfront’s fee.

Even though it costs less, your pets will still receive premium treatment with dog beds, bowls, and treats. You can’t, however, leave them unattended in your rooms.

If you’re checking in with furry companions, you also can’t choose rooms with views of the harbor. The silver lining is that it’s quite close to the waterfront, so you can take your pet on scenic walks along the boardwalk.

If you’re looking for budget-friendly accommodations for you and your furry buddy, we recommend Future Inns. Their rooms aren’t that grand but they have all the modern conveniences to make your stay comfortable.

What we like the most about this hotel is that they won’t charge you extra for staying with pets. You might have to pack your own treats and toys because you might not get a welcome package, but they will provide waste bags at the front desk.

Luckily, the hotel does come with a large grassy area where your pet can stretch, play, and do their business.

You’ll be assigned to a pet-friendly floor so you can only choose accommodations that are available on that level. You’ll also receive a goodie bag with toys and treats for your pet.

There aren’t designed areas for pet relief within the hotel property, but you can take them to the nearby Victoria Park, which is a popular spot for dog walkers. Just make sure to clean up after them.

The hotel’s proximity to the park will be very convenient for you since they won’t allow you to leave your pet unattended in the room.

If you’re looking for accommodations near the Halifax Stanfield International Airport, go to Quality Inn. They offer great value for such a budget-friendly price, which even comes with complimentary breakfasts and 24-hour airport shuttle services.

Both cats and dogs are welcome to stay at this hotel but must weigh no more than 40 lbs. Although comfortable, their designated pet-friendly rooms aren’t very spacious, which is most likely why big pets aren’t allowed.

Our favorite thing about it is that they won’t charge you extra for bringing pets—even when you have two! They have grassy areas around the hotel where your pets can play before traveling with you again whether by car or plane.

Located at the heart of downtown Halifax, the hotel brings you close to a myriad of recreational and historical attractions for a reasonable price.

We also like that they only charge an extra $25 per stay, which covers a maximum of two pets for seven days. If you have service animals, the hotel won’t charge you for their stay.

They’ll even provide beds, treats, bowls, and waste bags for your furry companions, making their stay just as fun and comfortable as yours. Across the hotel, there are patches of grass where your pets can relieve themselves.

Situated near Kearney Lake, Chateau Bedford offers convenient and affordable accommodations close to a popular summer destination in Halifax. It’s also a stone throw’s away from Hemlock Ravine Park, which has trails for off-leash dog walking.

Only small dogs and cats are allowed at the hotel and must weigh no more than 20 lbs. You can bring up to two pets for $25 per stay.

All of their pet-friendly rooms come with two queen beds, an armchair, a pair of writing desks, and ergonomic chairs. As per hotel policy, you can’t leave your pets unattended in your room.

For pet relief, you can take them to the grassy area around the hotel. Don’t forget to ask for waste bags from the front desk so you can clean up after them.

Located near Bayer’s Lake, the Costal Inn offers cozy budget-friendly accommodations for travelers with small pups. They charge an extra $25 per pet and allow a maximum of two pups per room.

The hotel only accepts canines weighing under 100 lbs, so no big dogs are allowed. It might be because of the size of their pet-friendly rooms, which aren’t the most spacious.

Their pet-friendly rooms are very limited, so you should book ahead if you intend on staying here. Their budget-friendly rate attracts a lot of guests, especially in the summer.

Unfortunately, cats aren’t welcome here for now. You’ll have to check in with your feline companions elsewhere.
