Not to brag, but over the years, I’ve kind of built a reputation as a fantastic gift-giver. Every time a birthday or a holiday comes up, friends and family look forward to what I’ll be giving them.
They think that I just have this natural talent for knowing what to pick. But in reality, I just have a list of the best stores to shop at — because going to one isn’t enough.
If you also want to be everyone’s favorite guest or relative, I’ve got you covered. This guide has all the gift shops in Halifax you’ll ever need to find the perfect present for your loved ones.
How much do gift shop products cost in Halifax?
In Halifax, gift shop products typically cost around $5 to upwards of $50. Smaller knick-knacks and mass-produced items tend to be cheaper, while handmade goods and gourmet products usually fetch a higher price.
How We Chose the Best Gift Shops in Halifax
1. Jennifer’s of Nova Scotia

Address: 5635 Spring Garden Rd
Phone: +1 902 425 3119
Business Hours:
- Saturday to Tuesday – 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM
- Wednesday to Friday – 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM
Whenever someone talks about gifts, Jennifer’s of Nova Scotia always comes up in conversation. They’ve been a great source of local artisanal items since 1978.
Every time you visit, you’re sure to find something new. The store currently supports the talents of over 200 Canadian artists, so you’re bound to stumble upon something you’ll like, whether that’s jewelry, home decor, or books.
That being said, the store is a bit hard to navigate since it’s a bit cramped. There have even been complaints about how it’s not wheelchair accessible.
But on the bright side, they cater to different price points. Souvenirs and art prints tend to be more affordable compared to their more unique display pieces.
And if you’re not really sure what to get, we recommend approaching one of their friendly staff members. They’ll know exactly what to recommend and go the extra mile to make sure that you get it just the way you like it.
The perfect example of exceptional customer service
“This store is the perfect example of exceptional customer service!! I had the pleasure of dealing with Elizabeth and Rosie here while I was trying to get a special gift. They had no complaints going back to check for sizes and reserved items for me for a generous period of two weeks. When I came to pick it up they were kind enough to clean the product and pack everything. It’s not enough to just have a good variety of products, it‘s employees who are willing to go above and beyond like them that are behind a store‘s success.”

An eclectic collection of artisanal crafts
“These are exactly the kind of items I love to support as souvenirs. An eclectic collection of artisanal crafts. We loved the art and the jewelry but also admired soaps, pottery, and more. If you are looking for a gift or souvenir that does not conform to the traditional souvenir style shop, this gem is for you. Some of the items are a little more pricey, and if you are a budget souvenir collector, this place is probably more browsing only.”

2. Sweet Jane’s

Address: 1300 Queen St
Phone: +1 877 333 9055
Business Hours:
- Monday to Saturday – 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM
- Sunday – 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Sweet Jane’s is one of the most affordable sources of treats in Halifax. We can guarantee that all the locals have received something from here at least once in their lives.
It’s hard not to turn to them whenever an occasion is approaching. They practically have a gift basket ready for every holiday and event, including Easter, Valentine’s, weddings, and baby showers.
These usually come with a wide array of items, from skincare products to fresh fruits. And we think they’re presented in a very appealing way, complete with colorful packaging and bows.
Be sure to check out their candy section if you visit in person. It’s always stocked with lots of retro candy that all of the regular customers are obsessed with.
But whenever possible, try not to ask their staff too many questions. Apparently, they’re not always friendly and might even dampen your cheerful spirits.
The perfect store that offers a wide range of unique and affordable items
“Sweet Jane’s is a perfect store that offers a wide range of unique and affordable items. From the moment you walk in the door, the ambiance offers a warm and welcoming feeling. The staff is helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable about their products. It is not overwhelming, as many larger (box stores) and the comfortable feeling makes you feel relaxed. That, combined with the retro candy, brings a feeling of nostalgia. Highly recommend visiting Janet and her amazing store /staff!”

Will definitely be ordering from them again
“Had an absolutely wonderful experience with Sweet Jane’s!! I ordered three of their Queen Street Quarantine baskets for delivery in Halifax and PEI with 4 days notice. I was very impressed with how easy the process were and how helpful the staff were with suggestions and ensuring the baskets stayed within my budget. The recipients of the baskets all commented on the beautiful presentation and how great the snacks and treats were. Even the basket sent to PEI arrived in amazing condition with great presentation! Thank you, Sweet Jane’s!! We’ll definitely be ordering from you again :)”

Phone: +1 902 405 8309
Business Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

- Sunday – 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
The most creative people always end up gravitating to Inkwell Modern Handmade Boutique & Letterpress Studio. You’ll find the most adorable cards, decor, and stationery on their shelves.
Everything here is handmade, which is a bit of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, everything is quite expensive, with their greeting cards even being double the price of other stores.
But on the other hand, you won’t find these designs anywhere else. Plus, we think it’s cool that their staff can tell you a lot about the local artists who made them.
Honestly, the workers play a huge part in why people love this store. They’re incredibly kind and will even help you create a note for the recipient of your gift.
A cute little spot, very well organized and presented
“So many people have told me I would love this shop, and they were not wrong! A cute little spot, very well organised and presented. Lots of local makers featured here! The staff was super friendly and informative. He was able to give details on many of the artist and talk about different things they offer seasonally. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone in the area. Worth the stop! Also wheelchair friendly. No steps leading up to the entrance!”
My favorite store in the entire city
“This place is perfect! My favourite store in the entire city! I have to hold back going here and reading all the cards, let alone buying a thousand of them! I send my niece a card in the mail every two weeks and thankyou inkwell for making them sooosososo special. There is a card for every occasion and every type of relationship. Never ever been disappointed here. Peaceful and cozy shopping experience”

4. Sarah & Tom

Address: 6448 Quinpool Rd
Phone: +1 902 431 4619
Business Hours:
- Sunday to Friday – 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM
- Saturday – 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Sarah & Tom is the perfect store for music lovers, specifically Korean and Japanese Pop. Here, you can purchase albums, posters, and an assortment of colorful merchandise.
The store really is special since there’s not much like it in the area. And we love that it’s clearly run by passionate fans who are always down to chat about the latest releases.
New customers usually assume that their prices are through the roof, considering that most of their stock is imported. But you’d be surprised that they’re actually pretty reasonable compared to other similar retailers online.
Just keep an eye out for some of their trendier items. It seems that not all of them are authentic, with some eagle-eyed clients noticing that their Sonny Angel inventory was full of knock-offs.

5. Amos Pewter

Address: 1535 Saltyard Wy
Phone: +1 800 565 3369
Business Hours:
- Monday to Sunday – 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
It’s been over 50 years since they originally opened, and yet, Amos Pewter is still the best when it comes to Christmas goods. Their original, handmade designs have become a staple in so many Haligonian homes.
They have a distinct and intricate style that’s evident in all of their jewelry, ornaments, and home decor. And their attention to detail extends to the way they package items, making them perfect for gifting as soon as you leave the store.
But besides this, we included them in this list for their amazing workshops. We like the idea of gifting an experience, which in this case is an affordable and hands-on pewter-crafting course.
The only downside to this store is that it’s located in a pretty touristy area. And so, it’s a common complaint among customers that the place is too crowded.
One of our favorite things about Nova Scotia
“Amos Pewter is one of our favourite things about Nova Scotia. The flagship store in Mahone Bay is really wonderful and worth the drive. I have a collection of earrings and my husband has a ring. We were in recently to purchase a gift for friends of ours – and the staff member was very polite and helpful. She wrapped it really well to help with it’s long journey ahead to England. Wish they would make a dog paw line – but my bee earrings from this past summer are my current favourite.”

Great store, great service
“Great store, great service. Considering that we travel with our dogs it’s a big plus they’re allowed in. Our dogs finished the water bowl outside, as they were offered a treat inside I mentioned ours just finished the water and it was refilled before we walked out (consider me impressed). Great assortment, beautiful pieces, also beautifully and carefully wrapped and packed upon checkout. We got a necklace and a picture frame which I’m sure we’ll treasure for many many years.”
