We know how stressful oral surgery can be, so we’ve done the hard work to find trusted surgical teams across the city so you can choose the right provider. Read on!

How much does wisdom tooth removal cost in Halifax?

In Halifax, wisdom tooth removal typically costs between $110 CAD for a single routine extraction and $2,500 CAD or more for complex four-tooth removals with sedation.

Procedure TypeEstimated Cost (CAD)

How We Reviewed

Clinical Expertise: We verified the formal credentials and surgical background of every dental practitioner on our list. That way, you know your teeth are in skilled hands for complex removals.
Patient Comfort: We evaluated the sedation options and post-treatment guidance provided to keep patients calm throughout surgery. Reliable pain management helps ease anxiety for both teens and adults.
Accessibility: We selected dental clinics located along central transit routes with dependable scheduling and direct insurance billing. Clear upfront communication keeps unexpected fees to a minimum.
Diagnostic Technology: We checked for precise digital X-rays and three-dimensional (3D) imaging systems that accurately pinpoint root locations. Detailed scans prevent surgical surprises and lower radiation exposure.
Reputation and Feedback: We analysed verified patient reviews from local Haligonians across Google to measure consistency. High marks for gentle chairside manners and clean facilities carried significant weight.

Would recommend 10/10 every time

I had my wisdom teeth removed here, and they have incredible staff and provide a wonderful experience. Would recommend 10/10 every time. They are attentive, personable, and make your thoughts and opinions feel incredibly valued and respected.

The hygienist was lovely too

I love the set up of the new office. I felt relaxed as soon as I walked in. The place is huge, I wasn’t expecting that just by looking from the outside. The cleaning was easy, I almost forgot I was at the dentist because of the TV.  The hygenist was lovely too, super easy to talk to. I can’t recommend this place enough

2. Citadel Oral & Facial Surgery

Website:http://www.citadelsurgery.com/

Address: Saint Lawrence Place, 3480 Joseph Howe Dr., Suite 301

Contact: 902-442-9720

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

For deeply impacted roots or complex bone impactions, Citadel Oral & Facial Surgery provides specialised surgical wisdom tooth removal.

The clinic is led by oral and maxillofacial surgeons Dr Marco Chiarot and Dr. Joel Powell, who check for underlying bone problems before surgery. Patients can choose tailored intravenous (IV) sedation or general anaesthesia.

We spoke with a client who had four impacted molars removed here, and she praised the surgical nurses for keeping her relaxed throughout recovery.

The team also provides full post-operative kits with pain prescriptions to help prevent dry socket complications.

However, the surgeons split their time across four regional locations. This can make it tricky to secure your preferred day for wisdom tooth removal.

Pros

  • Board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons
  • Tailored IV sedation and general anaesthesia options
  • Thorough pre-operative bone pathology evaluation
  • Post-operative kits with pain management prescriptions

Cons

  • Surgeons work across four locations; hard to secure preferred dates

I was anxious but he put me at ease

I have been seeing Dr Mallaisy at Atlantic Dental for the past year.  He puts you at ease with his calm and gentle approach.  I had to have a wisdom tooth and another tooth removed today.  I was anxious but he put me at ease.  The procedure was quick and no pain.  I recommend Dr. Mallaisy.  I trust him.

They got me in the same day for a painful wisdom tooth and I’m so grateful

Dr. Lee is fantastic! Thorough in his care and explanations, and made sure to make my uncomfortable procedure as comfortable as possible. The staff out front are also wonderful, with a great sense of humour. They got me in the same day for a painful wisdom tooth and I’m so grateful.

We spoke with a client who had an aching lower molar assessed here, and she appreciated how gently the dentist explained the procedure and answered every question without rushing.

Unfortunately, the intake process requires a six-page medical questionnaire, which may feel tedious before your wisdom tooth removal.

Pros

  • Central downtown location on Duke Street

  • Multilingual team serving six languages
  • Multiple operatories for minimal waiting

Pretty painless experience

Doctor Atwi makes getting my teeth popped out of my head a positive experience. I had my wisdom teeth removed and it was a pretty painless experience and today, it’s healing very well I barely feel anything he did a great job.

I truly believe that Dr Atwi is a very good dentist very fair. The staff there are understanding and hardworking.

He was amazing and so was his little helper

He made sure I was completely frozen for my extraction very kind and caring. He told me I would feel pressure I remember years ago but this time felt nothing at all. When he said tooth is out I was still waiting for him to pull it. He was amazing and so was his little helper. She too took great care of me
