Taylor Head Provincial Park, a rugged jewel on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore, thrusts boldly 6.5 km into the Atlantic Ocean. It serves up jaw-dropping views and an untouched sanctuary just 11 km southwest of Sheet Harbour near Spry Bay.
With 14.2 km of hiking trails, this park offers an adventure for everyone, from dramatic coastal cliffs to peaceful, hidden beaches. The park’s crowning glory is its rare sand volcanoes, a geological marvel you won’t find just anywhere in Nova Scotia.
How to Get to Taylor Head Provincial Park
For the fastest route, head out of Halifax and hop on Hwy 111 S. A quick 5-minute drive later, you’ll find yourself on NS-107 E, cruising toward Nova Scotia Trunk 7 E.
Here, you’ll need to go for about 1 hour and 23 minutes of driving on Trunk 7, and you’ll be turning right onto Taylor Park Road. Drive a mere 160 meters, and you’ll have arrived at Taylor Head Provincial Park.
If you’re looking for an alternate route, start from Halifax and take Chebucto Road and Connaught Ave. You’ll swing by Bayers Rd/NS-102 in the West End, and then it’s onto NS-102.
From there, it’s a steady 1 hour and 36 minutes on NS-107 E and Nova Scotia Trunk 7 E. Again, turn right onto Taylor Park Road, and after just a short drive, you’ll find the parking lot.
Your total travel time for this route will be around 1 hour and 40 minutes, covering 137 km.
Once you get there, just follow the road to the end where you’ll find the parking lot. From the parking lot, a charming boardwalk leads you straight to a stunning white sand beach with turquoise waters.
