I called up some friends, went on a little joyride around town, and made a list of the best shops for Halloween costumes in Halifax.

Thanks to its wide selection, Party City is one of Halifax’s go-to spots when it comes to costumes.
We like that they cover every age group, with sizes ranging from infant and child costumes to tween and adult options, so the whole family can do all their shopping in one place.
The lineup here covers all kinds of themes, including superhero characters, historical looks, fairytale, and even adult. If you already have an idea of what you’re looking for, this makes browsing so much easier.
Aside from full sets, they also have accessories like wigs, hats, contact lenses, and makeup to complete your look.
All that said, their prices are a bit higher compared to other shops.

What stood out to us was how extensive their selection is. Stocking everything from classic Halloween staples to modern movie characters, it’s easy to find something that fits your vision.
We love that they have group and couples’ costume options too, which are great for coordinating with friends or a partner.
Because of all this variety, their pricing also spans a wider spectrum. You can go for simple, affordable costumes or something more premium.
If the Halifax location doesn’t have the exact piece you want, their team takes the initiative to reach out to their other branches to get that item to you, either through delivery or in-store pickup.
Just make sure to time your visit well. We heard they can get pretty crowded during the Halloween season.

Glow Halloween Store is a local favorite in Halifax for both intricate and last-minute costumes. They’ve got everything from full sets of licensed film and book characters to more classic options like clowns and pirates.
We just noticed that their set costumes can be a bit pricey, so they might not be the best choice if you’re on a budget.
However, they do have tons of solo accessories, like character hats, colored wigs, and even spooky masks, for those looking for something simpler.
If you don’t have time to visit their store, they have online shopping available. This makes it easy to browse all the costumes from the comfort of your home.

We really appreciate the quality here, with fabrics and details that are sure to make your costume stand out. The only trade-off is that their prices do run higher than those of other shops we’ve visited.
If you’re not looking to pay full price, they offer rentals. It’s a smart choice if you only need a costume for a single occasion or are looking to save up a bit.
Their stock rotates regularly, so there’s always something new to browse each Halloween season.

Walmart is easily one of the most affordable and convenient options for Halloween costumes in Halifax. We find this store super handy for times when we’re in a rush or doing some last-minute shopping.
One standout feature is their seasonal discounts. They roll out tons of deals during October, making it a go-to if you don’t want to splurge too much.
Plus, they offer lots of Halloween bundles and sets with assorted items to make it easier to grab costumes, decorations, and candy all in one place.
As for the costumes themselves, their selection often includes popular characters, from superheroes and princesses to trending pop culture figures — a big plus if you want something that’s easily recognizable.
Just a heads up though: costume sizes can run out pretty fast during the peak of the Halloween season, so it’s best to shop early.

“Great Wal-Mart. Really love how it is underneath the LC and sobeys, whenever im in it I just think about the stores that are literally on top of me, and vice versa whenever im in one of the on top stores. The parking lot is also wacky and appreciable, with a great public staircase. The wind in the parking lot does sort of funnel all the litter to the staircase but hey nothing can be done about that, just nature at work blowing air around. Its also in a great location, with mumford terminal and the halifax shopping centre right near by it. This is 100% my favourite walmart I have ever been to in Nova Scotia”
