Let’s face it, finding the right chiropractor to solve that pinched nerve or sore spot on your back is like looking for a needle in a haystack — if you can still bend down!

Now, are you ready to crack the code to the best chiropractors in Halifax? Get ready to kiss those aches and pains goodbye as we unravel the city’s spine-tastic secrets and find you the perfect match for your alignment aspirations.

How much do chiropractors charge in Halifax?
The chiropractors on our list charge a starting rate of  $110 for 45 minutes. Note that different treatments require varying times and frequencies, which affects the cost.

How We Chose the Best Chiropractors in Halifax

Qualifications and Credentials: We looked into the chiropractor’s education, training, and any certifications they hold. This reflects their expertise and competence in providing chiropractic care.
Experience: We considered the number of years the chiropractor has been practicing and any specialties they may have. Experience often correlates with skill and the ability to handle various conditions effectively.
Patient Reviews and Testimonials: We examined feedback from previous patients to gauge their satisfaction with the chiropractor’s services. This provided insights into the quality of care and patient experience.
Communication and Patient Care: We paid attention to the chiropractor’s patient communication and care approach. A compassionate and attentive demeanor fosters trust and enhances the overall treatment experience.
Insurance Coverage and Payment Options: We considered whether the chiropractor accepts insurance plans and offers flexible payment options. This ensures the affordability and accessibility of services for patients.
Convenience and Accessibility: We evaluated the location of the chiropractic clinic and its hours of operation. Convenient access to care and flexible appointment scheduling are important for patients seeking regular treatment.
Referral Network: We looked into whether the chiropractor collaborates with other healthcare professionals, such as primary care physicians or physical therapists. A strong referral network facilitates comprehensive care and better outcomes for patients.

Halifax Chiropractic Clinic has been dedicated to spinal health since 1982, with Dr. Brian Seaman leading the way. As a Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences, he brings extensive expertise to his practice, actively contributing to various chiropractic boards.

Dr. Nicholas (Nick) Kobelka also practices at the Halifax Chiropractic Clinic, and has the added skill set of being trained in acupuncture. Both Dr Seaman and Dr Kobelka, are graduates of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto.

The initial appointments here are exceptional, lasting a full hour for personalized consultations and examinations. Patients receive clear treatment plans and regular progress updates, which sets a high standard for care.

In addition to addressing common spinal and joint issues, the clinic offers specialized chiropractic treatments for auto-related injuries, TMJ syndrome, and sports injuries, ensuring comprehensive care for a variety of conditions.

While there was a temporary referral requirement during Dr. Seaman’s tenure as Chair of Medical Services for the 2023 North American Indigenous Games, this has since been lifted. The clinic is now open to new patients, making it easier to access their excellent services.

Halifax Chiropractic Clinic is committed to transparency regarding fees. While specific fees are discussed during initial calls to ensure clarity based on individual cases, they are clearly posted in the reception area.

A delightful bonus is the presence of Allie, their hypoallergenic service dog. Patients with dog-related sensitivities are encouraged to inform the staff when booking to ensure a comfortable visit.

Overall, Halifax Chiropractic Clinic provides a welcoming environment and high-quality care, making it a fantastic choice for anyone seeking chiropractic treatment.

Thorough treatment, lovely staff

“I had chronic pain for eight years and finally decided to try a chiropractor. The exam was so thorough that they were able to find the problem! And the treatment has helped immensely. I don’t think about my pain anymore and I used to think about it every day.

The whole clinic is lovely, the staff are great, it’s always a pleasure to go. Ashton and Nicholas rock!”

“Efficient, polite and professional”

“Dr. Brian Seaman is without a doubt one of the most extraordinary health professionals I have ever been treated by (that includes physios, chiropractors, acupuncturists, doctors and nurses). He is thorough, a consummate professional embodying the highest values of his profession, and a master of his art. I cannot recommend Dr. Seaman highly enough. I have been treated by 5 chiropractors over 10 years in two different provinces, and none holds a candle to Dr. Brian Seaman. Extraordinary.”

Contact Details: +1 902-492-2102

Operating Hours:

  • Closed from Saturday to Sunday

  • Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 7:30 AM–4 PM

Dr. Monique Aucoin and her husband Chad have been running their downtown Halifax chiropractic practice since 2008.

Dr. Aucoin’s credentials as a Doctor of Chiropractic, Personal Trainer, and Yoga instructor promise a comprehensive approach to muscle and tissue care.

Plus, she’s active in professional associations like the Council of Nova Scotia College of Chiropractors.

The clinic uses advanced techniques like the Thompson Technique and Spine Align Technique, showing they’re on top of their game in chiropractic care.

For context, the Thompson Technique uses a drop table for gentle spine alignment, while the Spine Align Technique restores optimal spine alignment with proven methods.

Their clear fee system, with set rates for hour-long initial and follow-up visits, is pretty refreshing.

However, we’ve got issues about appointments being canceled without notice. And while their clinic is accessible, we’re not thrilled with the limited parking that fills up quickly.

Pros

  • Transparent fees
  • Uses Thompson Technique and Spine Align Technique
  • Emphasis on holistic wellness via yoga and acupuncture
  • Active involvement in the Council of Nova Scotia College of Chiropractors
  • Convenient downtown location

Cons

  • Appointments can be cancelled without warning
  • Limited parking availability

Patient, knowledgeable, and professional

“I’ve had sciatica pain for over two years now and can already feel a great improvement after a few sessions with Dr Monique. These things are a process and Dr Monique certainly knows what she’s doing. She gives time to her patients, listens with empathy and suggests the right course of treatment. Staff have been super friendly and professional. Special thanks to Dr Monique and Claire for helping me out. I feel confident in their abilities to get my health back on track and maintain it. Thank you so much for everything!”

Professional, caring, welcoming

“I highly recommend Maritime Chiro! I was well taken care of during a scary time in my life. I felt like a mess after being hit by a car and Monique’s team handled my case with professionalism, empathy and care. Monique, Monica, and Tim were very friendly, knowledgeable and fun to deal with. And I can’t forget the welcoming atmosphere from Debbie at the front desk! Many thanks to them!!”

Rates: Initial visit $150 (75 minutes), subsequent visit $115 (60 minutes)

Contact Details: +1 902-407-3347

Operating Hours:

  • Closed on Sunday
  • Monday: 12–7 PM
  • Tuesday: 10 AM–7 PM
  • Wednesday: 9 AM–7 PM
  • Thursday: 8 AM–7 PM
  • Friday: 8 AM–4 PM
  • Saturday: 8 AM–12 PM

We’ve got to give props to Dr. Kate MacAdam and Dr. Jenna Press for their total dedication to patient health, learning, and research.

With Dr. MacAdam’s Kinesiology and chiropractic background and Dr. Press’s Medical Acupuncture expertise, they’ve got all bases covered for a top-notch treatment plan.

Their thing is orthotics — custom shoe inserts to tackle foot issues. They really take their time, checking out your medical history and how you walk before they decide what you need.

Aside from orthotics, they offer TCM, Extremity Manipulative Therapy, Joint Manipulation, Soft Tissue Therapy, and the Graston Technique®.

In particular, the Graston Technique® uses stainless steel tools to detect and treat scar tissue in muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia.

But, here’s the thing — there’s no receptionist on standby to help you. Their rates are higher than most, too.

And parking is a bit of a gamble. There are spots, sure — but they fill up fast, especially during rush hour.

Pros

  • Expertise in Kinesiology and Medical Acupuncture
  • Focus on orthotics
  • Use of TCM techniques and practices

Cons

  • Parking fills up quickly
  • Rates are higher
  • No receptionist during office hours

Knwledgeable and caring service

“Had my first acupuncture appointment with Candice today and it was AMAZING. She is so knowledgeable and caring. Very thorough and makes you feel so at ease! I have had issues with TMJ my whole life, this is the best and most relaxed my jaw has been in forever! Candice also did some guasha on me as well and that was so lovely as well. She kept checking in on me to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. I cannot rave about her enough. Telling everyone I know to go see her!

Clinic was super convenient and very comfortable as well. Overall a very wonderful experience!”

Relaxing ambiance, welcoming and cheerful service

“I LOVE DR. MACADAM & ASSOCIATES!

Getting a massage here is the most relaxing experience.

Every time I go in I’m greeted by Dr. MacAdam and she is so welcoming and cheerful.

The place is beautifully decorated and the massage rooms have the perfect lighting and temperature.   The massage therapists are amazing and I always leave feeling refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the day!”

Clayton Park Chiropractic Centre

Clayton Park Chiropractic Centre

Website: https://www.claytonparkchiro.ca/

Address: 117 Kearney Lake Rd #11, Halifax, NS B3M 4N9, Canada

Contact Details: +1 902-443-5669

Operating Hours:

  • Closed from Saturday to Sunday
  • Monday and Wednesday: 8 AM–5:30 PM
  • Tuesday and Thursday: 8 AM–6:30 PM
  • Friday: 1–5 PM

We’re really into the personalized approach at Clayton Park Chiropractic Centre, led by Dr. Douglas Penrose, who’s all about holistic health. His most common treatment is the Diversified adjustment method — preferred by athletes.

Aside from the aforementioned, we’re quite impressed by the range of services they offer, especially the innovative Back-On-Trac Decompression Table. It offers a gentle stretch for your spine and muscles, designed to ease chronic back pain.

The Flexion Distraction and the ArthoStim methods also stand out. Flexion Distraction is recommended for patients dealing with low back and body pain while ArthoStim applies controlled “taps” to misaligned vertebral segments, avoiding twisting or turning.

But, there are a couple of things that have us scratching our heads. Limited appointment slots and shorter initial visits compared to other chiropractors might be a hassle.

Plus, the lack of set fees for consultation or subsequent visits feels a bit murky — we would have appreciated it if they were more transparent with their rates.

Pros

  • Personalized holistic care
  • Extensive chiropractic experience
  • Expertise in treating athletes
  • Innovative treatment options

Cons

  • Lack of fee transparency
  • Short initial appointment time
  • Limited appointment availability

Great results from experts in their fields

“Experts in their fields. The best of the best that I’ve ever had treat me. Dr Doug was born to do chiropractic and Michelle has a natural given talent on knowing just where it hurts and how to undo the most stubborn knots in ur muscles that other massage therapist can even touch. I highly recommend this place to anyone who needs results and don’t have time to play around with anyone less then the best!”

Patient, compassionate, professional

“As someone who suffers from anxiety when doing any sort of treatment with my body, my first visit and adjustment was met with the exact level of patience and compassion I would expect from a professional spot such as this. I was so pleased to be heard, and to be treated with the level of care I needed for both my nerves and piece of mind. Thank you again for the pleasant experience and continued exceptional customer support.”

Knotical Chiropractic

Knotical Chiropractic

Website: https://knoticalchiropractic.com/

Address: 1496 Lower Water St Suite 315, Halifax, NS B3J 1R9, Canada

Rates: Free 15-minute consultation, Initial Assessment $110 (45 mins), Extended Treatment/Re-Evaluation $85 (30 mins), Regular Subsequent Treatment $65 (15 mins)

Contact Details: +1 902-932-7425

Operating Hours:

  • Closed on Sunday
  • Monday and Wednesday: 8 AM–2 PM
  • Tuesday: 9:30 AM–8:30 PM
  • Thursday: 9:30 AM–6:30 PM
  • Friday: 8 AM–8:30 PM
  • Saturday: 9 AM–4 PM

Knotical Chiropractic really caught our eye with its holistic approach to spinal health. It’s led by Dr. Catie Gavin, Amanda Pigeon, and Kristen Gordon.

Dr. Gavin combines exercise science and chiropractic care, and she’s experienced with sports injuries. On the other hand, Amanda is great at deep-tissue massage while Kristen specializes in TCM and acupuncture — including Cosmetic Acupuncture.

Aside from sports injuries, the clinic resolves chiropractic pain issues from repetitive strains, arthritis, and spinal posture.

We like how Knotical Chiropractic keeps things easy by offering direct billing for most insurance companies and flexible payment options like credit, debit, e-transfer, or cash.

Supplementary treatments can make bills fluctuate, as some are short-term while others are long-term. Plus, you need a doctor’s referral so they can bill insurance companies.

And while they kick things off with a free 15-minute consult, the paid 45-minute consultation fee is a bit high.

Pros

  • Therapist offers supplementary deep-tissue massage
  • Chiropractor with background in Human Kinetics and Sports Injury
  • Trained acupuncturist with TCM and Cosmetic Acupuncture expertise
  • Accredited direct billing
  • Flexible payment options
  • Free 15-minute consultation

Cons

  • Doctor referrals needed for some insurance companies
  • High initial assessment cost
  • Additional fees for extended treatments

Professional and accommodating with a welcoming ambiance

“I was in town for a quick visit and they were able to accommodate me last minute. Their fees are reasonable and lower than others in the area. The quality of service is superior. Amanda (RMT) is incredible. I can’t put into words how amazing she is. Very professional and knows exactly how much pressure to apply. She was able to target pressure points without applying unnecessary pressure. I wish my visit was longer so I could benefit from more treatments. I would definitely be scheduling with her the next time I’m in town. I am very sensitive to fragrances and get debilitating migraine from scented products. Everything here smelled wonderful and didn’t trigger migraines for me which is a huge plus. I would love to buy the lemon essential oil if they sell it. Also, they can bill your insurance directly. My insurance is usually the one most places don’t accept but they were able to bill directly. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend scheduling an appointment with Amanda. You will be glad you did.”

Thorough, knowledgeable, caring

“I would highly recommend Dr. Gavin with Knotical Chiropractic! I’ve been going to her for over a year now, and she has helped drastically with my upper/neck problems. She is extremely thorough, and provides feedback and suggestions for maintenance between treatments. I’ve referred people to see Dr. Gavin who have also been very pleased, and will continue to do so!”
