5 Best Event Spaces in Halifax That Make Hosting a Breeze

event-spaces-halifax
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

There I was, scrolling through endless group chats, trying to figure out where to host my best friend’s birthday. A restaurant felt too predictable, my apartment was way too small, and other spots were just too hard to book at the last minute.

That’s when I realized I needed an actual event space. Something with the right vibe, enough room for our chaotic friend group, and (most importantly) wouldn’t cost a fortune.

So, I did what any determined planner would do: I drove around the city, asked for recommendations, and came up with a list of the best event spaces in Halifax.

Whether you’re planning a wedding, a work event, or just an excuse to get everyone together, these spots have you covered.

How much do event spaces cost in Halifax?

Event spaces in Halifax cost anywhere from $500 to upwards of $5,000, depending on the venue size, amenities, and rental duration.

How We Chose the Best Event Spaces in Halifax

Versatility and Amenities: We looked for venues that accommodate different types of events, whether it’s a wedding, corporate gathering, or private party.
Atmosphere: We considered locations with unique characters, stylish interiors, or scenic views to enhance the overall experience.
Customer Feedback: We prioritized event spaces with consistently positive reviews on the booking experience, venue, and staff.
Pricing and Value: We selected options that offer good value for money, considering factors like included services, accessibility, and overall quality.
Booking Process: Venues with straightforward booking processes, responsive staff, and clear rental policies ranked highly on our list.

Cedar Event Centre was completed in 2020 and still has a fresh feel to it. The contemporary finish here makes it a great option for folks looking for something more modern.

The venue offers multiple space sizes, including two spacious ballrooms and private meeting rooms.

It also comes with all the essentials – kitchen, built-in bar, outdoor terrace, and reception area. This makes it easier to handle all your event needs in one place.

Plus, their on-site planning team helps take the stress out of organizing as they make sure every detail is covered. And since events can get pretty hectic, this is a big plus for us.

Just a heads up though – the venue itself is pretty minimalistic, so it’s not ideal if you’re looking for something with more character.

Pros

  • Straightforward and modern
  • Multiple space sizes
  • Has essentials like a kitchen, bar, outdoor terrace, and reception area
  • On-site planning team

Cons

  • Minimalistic venue lacks character

I would definitely attend more events there in the future

“A clean, bright and spacious venue. It is well laid out. Parking capacity isn’t great for larger events but that is the case for every spot in Halifax and it shouldn’t deter  you from going there. I would definitely attend more events there in the future.”

For events that are less casual and more polished, The Halifax Club is a beloved spot for us locals.

Founded way back in 1862, it definitely has a more charming and historical feel. If you’re a fan of that vibe, you’ll appreciate the refined interiors, high ceilings, and antique furniture.

Its location in downtown Halifax also makes it an easy and convenient option, since it’s accessible with lots of nearby accommodations for the guests. We find that this makes it a stress-free choice for both hosts and attendees.

We also love the fine dining options and in-house catering services that promise delicious food and a hassle-free experience. It’s a great fit for those who appreciate a more refined and fancy setting.

All that said, it’s a luxurious option that’s definitely on the pricier end so it’s best for people with a bigger budget.

Pros

  • Luxurious
  • Charming and historical feel
  • Convenient location
  • Fine dining
  • In-house catering

Cons

  • Pricey

The space itself is elegant and feels like ‘old Halifax’ in the best possible way

“We held our wedding reception at the Halifax Club and instantly knew we picked the right venue. Meaghan and her team made our dreams come true by guiding us through every step. The space itself is elegant and feels like ‘old Halifax’ in the best possible way. If you are looking for a venue, look no further!!”

You are in great hands at the Halifax Club

“My husband and I were married at the Halifax Club on October 5th, celebrating with 60 friends and family. Meaghan, Eduardo and their team were wonderful and ensured that our day was executed flawlessly. Planning from out of province, the Halifax Club’s organization from ceremony to cocktails, dinner and dancing was seamless. Meaghan and her team took great care to be responsive, warm and accommodating to all of our requests and last minute questions. If you’re searching for the perfect venue to host your wedding or next major event, you are in great hands at the Halifax Club.

It’s got a beautiful outdoor space along the marina for your ceremony

“The Saraguay House is a wonderful wedding venue! We absolutely love photographing weddings here. It’s got a beautiful outdoor space along the marina for your ceremony, and lovely little pockets for portraits. A lovely dock, sail boats passing by, and greenery to boot! The Olympic Hall Community Centre is one of those classic event spaces in Halifax that’s popular for hosting all kinds of events, from weddings to seasonal markets.

Since it was just renovated, we like how the space now has a cleaner and more modern feel. It features a stage area with tech equipment, making it possible to have live music or presentations during the event – super convenient if you’re like us and prefer organizing everything in one place.

The venue itself is huge, with enough room to accommodate up to 300 seated or 700 standing guests. With this much space, it’s a great choice for events with lots of mingling or dancing.

However, since the space is designed for larger crowds, it might not be the best fit if you’re planning something more intimate.

Pros

  • Stage area for live music and presentations
  • Spacious venue

Cons

  • Not ideal for intimate events

A versatile building for different events

“On a weekday, we went to check out the Lebanese festival held in this building. The venue was great and had the capacity to accomodate a a fair number of people probably over several hundred. Right outside the building, there were one hour or two hour street parking available for free. It appeared to be a versatile building for different events”

The Music Room is a unique venue, especially for those who want music to be a big part of their event.

Unlike traditional event spaces, this spot is designed for concerts and performances, with top-tier acoustics and a professional audio setup. If you’re a music-lover like us, this is a big plus.

It’s also home to a Steinway grand piano and a digital audio mixer, which makes it a great pick for any event that calls for some quality live music.

While it’s best known for music events, the team here has experience in hosting all kinds of things – meetings, film shoots, and even weddings. So, you can rest assured that the people here know what they’re doing.

Unfortunately, it does lack some event basics like tables, chairs, staff, and catering, so you’ll need to bring in outside vendors.

Pros

  • Unique venue
  • Top-tier acoustics
  • Steinway grand piano
  • Experienced team

Cons

  • Lacks some event basics

Amazing intimate space

“The Music Room is an amazing intimate space. Service was friendly. Seats comfy.  We found street parking only five minutes away. Sound was amazing!! When I closed my eyes it was like I could hear each individual instrument in the band. Of course, kuddos to Benjamin Deschamps and his band. A true sound adventure for me and the Music Room made it a truly remarkable adventure.”
