The Practice feels like the kind of studio you’d love to spend time in, thanks to its warm, welcoming atmosphere. The small team fosters a strong sense of community that helps people feel supported and motivated.
They offer a range of classes for all levels and abilities, giving you opportunities to explore different styles. Some lessons focus on functional movements, holding active poses, and longer and supported restful stances.
We particularly love their strong emphasis on breathing techniques to improve lung capacity and cardiovascular health.
They also provide sauna sessions, which, when combined with a yoga class, can enhance muscle recovery through increased circulation and promote relaxation.
However, the fitness centre has only two instructors, which limits its capacity to hold large classes.
Their space is intimate and inviting
“I have been going to The Practice movement since it opened and I cannot express my gratitude for Amy and Laura enough! As soon as you walk in to the studio they are both so welcoming and engaging and they make you feel at home. I’ve done both The Practice and The Flow classes and they are both so rejuvenating and unique. Their space is intimate and inviting and they have so many local goodies in the shop, which is a bonus to a lovely practice! Thank you Amy and Laura for sharing your light!”

Teachers love to challenge you to push your boundaries physically and spiritually
“Laura and Amy put so much thought, care and passion into their classes. You can find a challenge if that’s what you want, or more restorative/meditative style classes are there as well. Both teachers love to challenge you to push your boundaries physically and spiritually in a safe environment. On visiting the studio you can feel the sense of community that welcomes yogis of all experience levels. Either way, you’ll walk out feeling like a new person.”

If your on the fence jump right in I couldn’t be happier I did!”

Everyone is incredibly non-judgmental, and there to achieve the same goal
“I’ve been to 3 different classes here now (my only 3 ever) and can’t say enough good things! Going in as a first time yoga practitioner was intimidating, and it turned out the class I chose was very demanding. However, the studio was/is extremely welcoming. Everyone is incredibly non-judgemental, and there to achieve the same goal. Props are provided and they will let you borrow a mat. My experience has been extremely positive so far. The prices are incredibly reasonable. I can’t thank these folks enough for getting me excited to do something that has been so good for my mind and body.”

Every class is unique and incorporates props to keep things fresh and engaging
“I started going to Oxygen in January 2025 and instantly became obsessed. They offer a wide variety of instructors and classes, each designed to suit all fitness levels, with options to level up depending on how you’re feeling that day. Every class is unique and incorporates a range of props to keep things fresh and engaging. I definitely recommend it—especially if you’re looking to switch up your workout routine or if you’re interested in starting hot workouts.”

The poses are better from other yoga centers I attended
“The classes are very nice and challenging, if one wants to make them, as the teacher gives options. The poses are different (better) from other yoga centers I attended because they’re new and they stretch other areas of the body. The service is very personalized as we’re asked regularly how we’re doing when injured and they follow up, in a nice way. I like the variety of classes: relaxing, flow, with weights. I like their choice of musique during classes; however, not when it’s too loud (at times it’s been a bit hard to hear the teacher, that’s the only negative point).”

5. Halifax Puppy Yoga

Business hours:

At Halifax Puppy Yoga, you can enjoy a calming yoga session with the company of puppies.
Students we spoke to describe the experience as therapeutic. The atmosphere is relaxed and playful, making yoga here more enjoyable than a typical exercise routine.
The classes move at a gentle pace, focusing on light stretching, breathwork, and mindful movement. Because of this approach, the sessions are accessible to a diverse range of yogis.
The downside is that the classes are offered exclusively on weekends. Plus, with the lessons divided into segments to allow the puppies to rest, your momentum can easily get disrupted.
It was so fun to have the puppies playing around while we stretched
“I have been to puppy yoga twice now and it was an absolute joy. It was so fun to have the puppies playing around while we stretched. The staff are lovely and try to encourage the puppies to interact with all guests. The breeders have been sweet and shared about the breeds as well. I went with my partner and with my sister and they both enjoyed it alot as well. The yoga was for all levels and the puppies were obviously for everyone as well, hehe. Such a fun activity.”

The instructors are so good, I almost forgot I was there for the puppies
“If heaven had a yoga class, it would be @hfxpuppyyoga. Where else can you find inner peace and a puppy chewing on your ponytail at the same time? The instructors are so good, I almost forgot I was there for the puppies (almost). And the staff? Absolute next level. They make sure everyone gets their fair share of puppy snuggles like it’s a sacred mission—and honestly, it is. I came for the yoga, stayed for the puppies, and left wondering if I could list this as therapy on my taxes. (And in fact have already booked my next class). 10/10 would recommend (and have a million times over) .”
