Get ready for Dances With Music, a winds and piano concert, presented by Scotia Festival of Music. Happening on March 19, 2025, it will take place at The Peggy Corkum Music Room in Halifax starting at 7:30 PM.
The program includes Camille Saint-Saëns’ Tarantella, a whirlwind chamber piece that is as lively as it is intricate. Then, you’ll be serenaded with Olivier Messiaen’s captivating La Merle Noir, which was inspired by a birdsong.
Aside from the classics, the show will feature contemporary pieces, such as Matthew Knight’s Abstraction and Guillaume Connesson’s Techno-Parade.
Valerie Coleman’s Portraits of Langston, a personal favorite, will also blow you away with the range of expression and storytelling woven into every note.

Dances With Winds is 1 of the 20 concerts the Scotia Festival of Music presents each year, from September to April.
Like in previous years, The Music Room Chamber Players Series always features a lot of variety, highlighting local talents and, sometimes, visiting musicians.
At the concert, Jack Chen will be performing on the flute, Eileen Walsh on the clarinet, and Simon Docking on the piano.
There are two ways to enjoy the concert: in-person and online. Whether you prefer to watch live or from the comfort of your home, you can buy tickets to the show at scotiafestival.com.
