5 Best Oral Surgeons in Halifax Who’ll Keep You Smiling

best-oral-surgeon-halifax
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

I’m perfectly happy visiting my favourite orthodontist, but some dental problems need a specialist with heavy-duty tools. Finding the best oral surgeon in Halifax suddenly mattered once my teeth decided to get complicated.

For my errant wisdom tooth, I want steady hands and a team that won’t make me panic. A gentle approach can make a daunting procedure feel far less intimidating.

To spare you the same anxious search, I checked local specialists, patient care, and clinic facilities. These Halifax oral surgeons are equipped to tackle complex dental work while keeping comfort firmly on the agenda.

How much does an oral surgeon charge in Halifax?

Oral surgery in Halifax typically costs $250 to over $5,000. The final price depends on the procedure, number of teeth, and sedation needed.

A basic tooth extraction usually costs $160 to $600 per tooth. More complex treatments, such as implants or jaw surgery, may cost $250 to $5,000+.

How We Reviewed

Range of services: We checked whether each clinic handles complex surgeries, simple extractions, or both. After all, you want the right specialist, not a dental detour.
Technology and techniques: We looked for modern imaging and up-to-date surgical methods. Better tools can mean sharper diagnoses and smoother recoveries.
Sedation options: We compared choices from local anesthesia to deeper sedation. The more options available, the easier it is to keep nerves in check.
Schedule flexibility: We reviewed clinic hours, including evening and weekend availability. Flexible bookings are a lifesaver when dental trouble ignores your calendar.

1. Citadel Oral & Facial Surgery

citadel-oral-facial-surgery

Website

Address: 3480 Joseph Howe Dr., Suite 30

Contact: 902-442-9720 | Fax: 902-468-2306

Hours: Monday-Friday: 7.30 AM – 4.30 PM

Citadel Oral & Facial Surgery is where I’d go when a dental problem graduates from routine to seriously complicated. Their team handles everything from corrective jaw surgery to facial trauma involving both bone and soft tissue.

A friend who had bone grafting here was especially impressed by the i-CAT 3D imaging. It made the whole diagnostic process feel precise rather than like educated guesswork.

I also like that they offer several anesthesia options, including IV conscious sedation and general anesthesia. That extra choice can make a nerve-racking procedure feel much easier to face.

With clinics in Halifax, Dartmouth, Bridgewater, Truro, and Yarmouth, they’re also easier to reach than many specialist practices. That’s handy when your jaw is already giving you enough trouble.

The drawback is that Citadel focuses solely on oral and maxillofacial surgery. You’ll still need your regular dentist for cleanings, fillings, and routine preventive care.

Pros

  • Corrective jaw surgery
  • i-CAT 3D imaging
  • IV and general anesthesia
  • Multiple clinic locations

Cons

  • No routine general dentistry

A very pleasant procedure from start to finish

I had a hefty dental surgery yesterday with Marco being my Dental Surgeon. I just want to say that it was a very pleasant procedure from start to finish, and the day after, I am healing well and feel well. The nurses and hygienist that assisted were great. Everyone answered any questions and any concerns.  I don’t know why I was so worried, as the discomfort is very minimal (I expect it to be worse days 3-5), but not to what I had thought in my head.

I felt at ease immediately

I cannot find the words to thank the team at Citadel Oral & Facial Surgery enough for their incredible care. I had three wisdom teeth extracted, and the experience was seamless from start to finish. I was absolutely terrified before the procedure, expecting it to be a painful and difficult process. However, the team was so professional and kind that I felt at ease immediately. The procedure itself was so fast and carefully handled that by the time I woke up, everything was already done.

2. Atlantic Dental Centre

Website

Address: 7001 Mumford Rd Suite 201

Contact: 902-453-2100

Hours: Monday: 8 AM – 5 PM | Tuesday – Thursday: 8 AM – 7 PM | Friday – Saturday: 8 AM – 4 PM

Atlantic Dental Centre is handy when I want routine checkups and minor oral surgery under one roof. Their general dental team handles implants, extractions, and wisdom teeth alongside preventive, cosmetic, restorative, and orthodontic care.

I like that they use panoramic imaging to capture the teeth, jaws, sinuses, and jaw joints. It gives the team a clearer view before planning an extraction or implant.

Their hours are also refreshingly practical for anyone with a packed weekday schedule. They stay open until 7 PM from Tuesday to Thursday and offer Saturday appointments from 8 AM to 4 PM.

The main downside is that dental sedation is temporarily unavailable at this location. Nervous patients may need to discuss other comfort options or consider another clinic.

Pros

  • Extended evening hours
  • Saturday appointments
  • Panoramic dental imaging
  • In-house extractions

Cons

  • Sedation temporarily unavailable

Doctor Lee was very professional

I decided to meet dentists at Atlantic Dental Care, and Doctor Lee was very professional and calm and explained what the problem is, and he even took his senior doctor’s opinion on my implant and referred me to the specialist for surgery, as my implant failed. Thanks, Doctor Lee, for explaining everything in detail, which no dentist has done in my last 6 months.

Thankful for his tremendous job

Dr. Lee did a great job. On March 26, 2026, I was a little nervous, but his pre-surgery explanation helped me to get rid of it. I am thankful for his tremendous job and thankful to his assistant as well.

3. Trimac Dental Centre

trimac-dental-centre

Website

Address: 6950 Mumford Rd 1

Contact: (902) 453-1234

Hours: Monday: 8.30 AM – 5 PM | Tuesday-Wednesday: 8.30 AM – 8 PM | Thursday-Friday: 8.30 AM – 5 PM | Saturday: 9 AM – 5 PM every second Saturday

Trimac Dental Centre caught my attention with their guided implant approach using keyhole surgery. When suitable, it may mean less tissue disruption, less discomfort, and a quicker recovery.

They also handle soft-tissue procedures, including frenectomies for babies, children, and adults with tongue- or lip-ties. It’s helpful to see this kind of specialized care offered across different age groups.

For implant patients, the team can perform bone grafts and sinus lifts before placing the hardware. They also provide preventive, nonsurgical, and surgical gum treatments, so periodontal care isn’t left out of the plan.

Evening appointments until 8:00 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays make after-work visits easier. That’s a welcome perk when your calendar is already packed.

The downside is that Saturday appointments are available only every second week. The clinic is also closed on Sundays, so weekend flexibility is limited.

Pros

  • Guided keyhole surgery
  • Soft-tissue procedures
  • Bone grafting available
  • Comprehensive gum care

Cons

  • Open every second Saturday
  • Closed on Sundays

Showed me everything in detail about my upcoming implant surgery

Dr Scott MacLean was amazing at making me feel at ease even though I have nervousness surrounding dental issues. He and his staff explained and showed me everything in detail about my upcoming implant surgery, and I feel very confident in their expertise. I highly recommend TriMac and am so glad my regular dentist referred me to Dr MacLean!

Entire staff is exceptional

I would highly recommend Trimac Dental and especially Dr. MacLean for your oral needs. He most certainly goes way beyond to accommodate you. The entire staff is exceptionally friendly.  Your comfort is their number one priority.  This location is a three-hour drive for me each way.  Worth every inch of the drive.

4. Scotia Dental

scotia-dental

Website

Address: 5251 Duke St #602

Contact: (902) 444-8550

Hours: Monday – Friday: 8 AM – 5 PM

Scotia Dental is a handy option when you need more than a routine checkup but don’t want to trek far from downtown. They handle extractions, wisdom teeth, bone grafting, implants, and everyday dental care under one roof.

Their team also performs sinus lifts to prepare the upper jaw for implants. It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes work that helps everything fit properly later.

I also like that they see emergencies such as knocked-out teeth and painful abscesses. They’ll try to fit urgent cases in quickly, though immediate treatment isn’t guaranteed.

Appointments start at 8 AM on weekdays, which makes pre-work visits much easier. That’s especially useful when dental trouble has already hijacked the day.

The downside is that Scotia Dental is closed all weekend. After-hours emergencies must be taken to the nearest hospital emergency department.

Pros

  • Wisdom tooth extractions
  • Sinus lift surgery
  • Emergency dental care
  • Early weekday appointments

Cons

  • Closed on weekends (can’t accommodate after-hours clients)

5. Lakeside Dental

lakeside-dental

Website

Address: 84 Chain Lake Dr 101

Contact: (902) 450-1569

Hours: Monday – Wednesday: 8 AM – 8 PM | Thursday: 8.30 AM – 6 PM | Friday: 8 AM – 2 PM

Lakeside Dental is a solid pick when you need dental work without rearranging your entire day. Their evening appointments run until 8 PM from Monday to Wednesday, which once saved me from a stressful rush-hour dash.

They handle extractions and wisdom teeth, with sedation options for patients who’d rather not white-knuckle the chair. That extra help can make a daunting appointment feel far more manageable.

I also like that they offer root canal treatment when a damaged tooth still has a fighting chance. Their periodontal and gum therapy services cover the less glamorous but equally important side of dental care.

The downside is that Friday appointments wrap up early at 2 PM. They’re also closed all weekend, so urgent cases may need a trip to the nearest emergency room.

Pros

  • Evening hours until 8:00 PM
  • Dental sedation available
  • Root canal treatments
  • Periodontal and gum care

Cons

  • Fridays end at 2 PM
  • Closed on weekends
