5 Best Voice Lessons in Halifax for Professional Coaching and Vocal Growth

voice-lessons-halifax
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

I used to think singing lessons were just for professionals – people gearing up for Broadway auditions or belting out power ballads in recording studios.

But then a friend casually mentioned she’d been taking lessons just for fun, and suddenly, I couldn’t shake the idea. I mean, I love singing (mostly in the shower), but what if I could actually get decent at it?

So, I hit up friends for recommendations, tried out a bunch of spots, and came up with a list of the best voice lessons in Halifax.

Whether you’re a total beginner, an aspiring performer, or just someone who wants to sound a little less off-key at karaoke, these are the best places to train your voice.

How much do voice lessons cost in Halifax?

Voice lessons in Halifax cost anywhere from $40 to $100 per session, depending on the instructor’s experience, lesson length, and whether you’re booking private or group sessions.

How We Chose the Best Voice Lessons in Halifax

Instructor Expertise: We focused on vocal coaches with strong professional backgrounds, whether in performance, teaching, or both, to ensure high-quality instruction.
Lesson Variety: We looked for studios and instructors offering a range of lesson types, from beginner-friendly training to advanced vocal coaching for professionals.
Student Reviews: We considered feedback from students about the effectiveness of lessons, instructor communication, and overall learning experience.
Pricing and Flexibility: We compared costs across different instructors and studios, looking for options that balance affordability with quality.
Teaching Approach: We prioritized programs that adapt to different learning styles, whether through classical training, contemporary techniques, or performance coaching.

Elise has a compelling, loving, and positive energy that uplifts her students

“would have never become the singer I am today! Elise encouraged me not to become a better singer, but she also helped me to become a better person.

Elise has a compelling, loving, and positive energy which uplifts her students and lets them take risks to make them a better performer. On top of assisting to build vocal strength, building range, and  building strength as a performer, Elise also helps students become aware of vocal health, helps students express their truth, and helps her students to build confidence to take on the world!

Without Elise, I would have never been able to be studying at my dream school Sheridan College as a musical theatre student. I could never thank Elise enough and I am so glad to call her a mentor a friend.

I would recommend Vocal Warrior studio to people who are on any part of their vocal/ singer path. Whether you are a beginner or have been singing for a while, Elise will have something to offer you!”

My singing and music reading abilities have both expanded greatly

“I took a full semester (September 2022 -January 2023) of singing lessons with Jason and could not recommend him more highly. I always felt very welcome and not judged, which was very important to me, as someone insecure in my singing ability and as someone whose voice has changed due to hormone replacement therapy. Jason does lessons in-person and online which is convenient, he is very patient and knowledgeable, and is overall a great teacher and person. Their home and studio are very clean and welcoming. My singing and music reading abilities have both expanded greatly through my lessons with Jason and I finished my semester with the confidence I need to continue my musical endeavours.”

Lucy is warm, compassionate, knowledgeable, highly skilled, and flexible

“My 11-year-old daughter has been working with Lucy for a few years now and it’s been an absolutely wonderful experience. Lucy is warm, compassionate, knowledgeable, highly-skilled, and flexible in her approach depending on the needs of the student. My daughter’s voice, as well as her self-confidence, have improved tremendously with Lucy’s coaching. She has a gift for harnessing the abilities of her students.”

Rachael works hard to provide students with thought-out lesson plans

“Been working with Racheal as my Vocal coach for about two-ish years. I’ve enjoyed every lesson with her. She works hard to provide students with thought-out lesson plans as well as a showcase at the end of the term which is so fun to listen to all the students improve with every term. She also has a Patreon that’s super helpful when practicing at home with lesson videos, drills and warm ups too!”

Could not be more happy with the experience and look forward to the next session!”

Lots of fun for the kids to perform for each other

“Merry Time is a wonderful and welcoming community of musicians, teachers, and students. Cat has been a caring teacher who takes time and follows her students’ lead at every stage. Merry Time provides performance opportunities for students, including (optional) recitals at the Doctor Piano showroom in Bedford. Lots of fun for the kids to perform for each other on a full-size grand piano, but in a low-pressure environment. We also love that Merry Time is right in our neighbourhood. We feel lucky to have these excellent teachers and excellent musicians in our lives.”

-Kyle Miller, Google Review

We are so happy with our experience and look forward to continuing

“Merry Time Music is an amazing music school option for all students. We started our 8 year old in fiddle/violin with Emilie with no music training/background and he has flourished. Emilie is encouraging, kind, fun and well organized. Our kiddo absolutely loves her (and so do we!) and he’s come so far in just his first 7 months. Emilie is fostering a love of music that will be the foundation to a lifelong love and appreciation. We are so happy with our experience and look forward to continuing on with lessons. As well, their recitals are informal but organized and are the perfect opportunity for students to gather, share music and practice performing in a positive, encouraging and low stress atmosphere. Merry Time Music is top notch, highly recommend!!!!!”
