5 Best Tire Shops in Halifax to Get You Rolling Again

tire-shops-in-halifax
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Halifax weather likes to keep your tires guessing. One day it’s raining; the next, your driveway’s auditioning as a skating rink.

A car wash can sort out the salt-streaked exterior. Finding the best tire shop in Halifax takes a little more homework.

We compared local shops on turnaround times, pricing transparency, and service quality. Here are several options to help you get a grip on your next tire purchase.

How much does a visit to a tire shop cost in Halifax?

Tire service in Halifax starts at around $25 for a flat repair. New passenger and SUV tires cost roughly $110 to 350+ each.

Seasonal tire swaps cost $40-70 for four tires already on rims. Off-rim mounting and balancing cost $80-140 for a set of four.

Flat tire repairs cost $25-50 per tire. A four-wheel alignment costs $100-160.

Seasonal tire storage costs $60-100 per season. New passenger and SUV tires range from $110-350+ per tire.

How We Reviewed

Location Accessibility: We looked for shops that are easy to reach across Halifax. A tire appointment shouldn’t require a road trip.
Service Range: We checked for mounting, balancing, alignments, and puncture repairs. Your seasonal to-do list shouldn’t need several pit stops.
Pricing Transparency: We favoured clear quotes and competitive rates. Your bill shouldn’t come with surprise passengers.
Turnaround Time: We prioritized efficient scheduling and prompt service. Nobody’s booking a tire change for the waiting-room experience.
Reviews & Reputation: We compared customer feedback for consistent praise of honest work and helpful advice. A good shop earns trust, not just stars.

1. DIAL – A – TIRE

dial-a-tire

Website

Address: 308 Herring Cove Rd

Contact: +1 902-475-3358

Hours: Daily, 8 AM – 5 PM

Seasonal tire changes don’t have to become your second job. Dial A Tire’s Herring Cove Road garage handles installation, balancing, and changeovers to help keep Halifax drivers rolling.

It’s open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM, including weekends. That gives drivers more room to fit tire maintenance around the working week.

Off-rim mounting includes balancing, while on-rim swaps offer balancing on request. Off-season tire storage means your spare set won’t spend six months competing with the lawnmower for garage space.

That said, the autumn changeover rush can mean longer waits and fewer appointment choices. Book ahead or arrange a drop-off during October and November to keep your day from revolving around rubber.

Pros

  • Open daily, including weekends
  • Tire installation, balancing, and seasonal changeovers
  • Balancing included with off-rim mounting
  • Off-season tire storage available

Cons

  • Longer waits and fewer appointment choices during the autumn rush
  • Balancing must be requested for on-rim swaps

Great prices

Awesome service from these guys. I came in last minute on a Sunday within an hour of closing. My tire had a hole in the sidewall and needed to be replaced. They didn’t have my tire size, but they called their Bedford location, and those guys waited for me to arrive to change my tire. The tire was replaced within 20 minutes! And the prices were great for everything. Thank you for the help today!!

Definitely recommend

Got a nail in my tire and they got me in for an appointment right away. They repaired the tire quickly with a patch, and the price was very reasonable. Fast, friendly service—I’d definitely recommend them.

Website

Address: 378 Herring Cove Rd

Contact: (902) 210-8488

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 9 AM – 5 PM

From the family car to the company truck, Convenient Auto & Tire covers plenty of ground. Its Herring Cove Road shop sells passenger and commercial truck tires, with mounting and computerized balancing available.

Drivers can book flat repairs, rotations, and seasonal changeovers under one roof. There’s even off-season storage, so your spare tires won’t need their own corner of the garage.

Commercial customers, on the other hand, can arrange tire inspections and rotation schedules to support fleet upkeep. Plus, Saturday opening gives weekday workers another chance to tackle their tire to-do list.

However, the shop closes at 5 PM Monday through Saturday and doesn’t open Sundays. Plan for a daytime visit if your working hours leave little room for a garage stop.

Pros

  • Passenger and commercial truck tire services
  • Mounting and computerized balancing
  • Flat repairs, rotations, and seasonal changeovers
  • Off-season tire storage
  • Open Saturdays

Cons

3. Coast

coast

Website

Address: Coast Halifax, Robie St

Contact: 1-902-454-8300

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM

Your tires shouldn’t be the most dramatic part of your Halifax commute. Coast’s branch at 2803 Robie Street offers a local stop for tire purchases and routine wheel maintenance.

It lists tire installation, balancing, repairs, and wheel alignments among its services. That’s a useful mix for drivers tackling worn rubber or planning a seasonal change.

Its installation process includes checking lug nuts, mounting tires, balancing wheels, and tightening fasteners to the correct torque.

The downside? The Robie Street branch opens only Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. You’ll need to fit your visit into a weekday, since evenings and weekends are off the table.

Pros

  • Robie Street location
  • Tire sales and installation
  • Balancing, tire repairs, and wheel alignment services
  • Installation includes lug-nut checks and correct torque tightening

Cons

  • Closed Saturdays and Sundays

We were so relieved that Scotia Tire on Robie could help us find the tires we needed. Terrance was a huge help, full of knowledge and so kind and patient.  I truly felt like I was looking for a Unicorn for our work van, never did I think finding a set of winter tires would be so difficult, but these guys made it happen so effortlessly! Thank you again for all your help yesterday and today, it may have just been another day for you guys, but it helped us out greatly in a jam! Will always recommend you!!

4. Timberlea Tire

timberlea-tire

Website

Address: 35 McQuade Lake Crescent

Contact: (902) 876-1576

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8 AM – 9 PM | Friday-Saturday, 8 AM – 5 PM | Sunday, 9 AM – 4 PM

Despite the name, you’ll find Timberlea Tire in Bayers Lake. Its McQuade Lake Crescent shop handles tire sales, installation, balancing, and repairs without making your maintenance list a scavenger hunt.

It offers seasonal changeovers and tire studding, giving drivers options for preparing for winter. Alignments, brake services, and oil changes also broaden the menu beyond rubber.

We like the Monday-to-Thursday evening hours, which offer breathing room when your workday refuses to end at five.

There are even fleet services that give business owners a place to arrange maintenance for company vehicles.

The trade-off is the Bayers Lake location, which may be less convenient for downtown drivers. Work the visit into your route, especially if you’re travelling from farther east.

Pros

  • Tire sales, installation, balancing, and repairs
  • Seasonal changeovers and tire studding
  • Alignments, brake services, and oil changes
  • Evening hours Monday–Thursday
  • Fleet maintenance services

Cons

  • Bayers Lake location may be less convenient for downtown and eastern Halifax drivers

5. Midas

midas

Website

Address: 2662 Robie Street

Contact: 782-482-1758

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM

Your next set of tires can start with a little sofa-based shopping. Midas on Robie Street offers online searches by vehicle before you arrange installation at the shop.

Its tire services include balancing, repairs, rotations, and wheel alignments. The broader automotive services make it a useful stop when your maintenance list extends beyond rubber.

We love that eligible passenger and light-truck tires purchased with paid installation qualify for its Limited Lifetime Tire Guarantee.

Benefits include free rotations and rebalancing every 8,000 kilometres, plus pressure checks, alignment checks, and inspections for uneven wear.

One thing to budget for is the extras within that guarantee. TPMS resets cost more, and covered road-hazard replacements can still involve mounting, balancing, taxes, and other applicable fees.

Pros

  • Online tire shopping by vehicle
  • Installation, balancing, repairs, rotations, and alignments
  • Broader automotive maintenance services
  • Free rotations and rebalancing every 8,000 km with qualifying tire purchases
  • Conditional road-hazard coverage

Cons

  • TPMS resets cost extra
  • Covered replacements can still incur installation costs, taxes, and other fees

Customer Reviews

They go above and beyond

Flash forward two years, this is the only place in the city that we will take our car. They have not only taken great care of us, but they go above and beyond to make sure we understand what happened (when we needed new tires, our lights burnt a fuse, etc).

Great job

The wrong tires were installed through no fault of the shop (they were sent the wrong tires) but they did a great job following up with me and keeping me informed on when the correct tires would arrive and also made accommodations when making a follow up appointment to get the correct tires installed.
